Parish Tins partners with twenty-five local Louisiana restaurants each year to provide a collection of discounts to the consumers of the Parish Tins.
The parish tins contains coasters for each of the twenty-five restaurants or breweries. Each coaster entitles the holder to $10 off a $25 purchase from the restaurant shown on the coaster.
The gift card coaster collection was designed for gift gifting, gift exchanges secret Santa/white elephant parties, work functions, friends, family and loved ones.
Joshua Piro and his wife Kelsey, residents of Youngsville, founded Parish Tins. They got the idea of seeing something like this in one of the northern states. The coasters in the tins sold at the end of each year are good for the following year. The couple have been doing this for the last five years, however noted there were no tins for 2021 due to Covid.
Piro said usually all but about ten of the restaurants come back each year. Each year he seeks out additional restaurants needed to make the make the twenty-five for the collection. It is a win-win the consumer, for the Piros and for the restaurants.
Each year Piro orders 2,500 tins, with 1,500 of the tins allocated for non-profits for fundraising purposes. Southside High School and Kiwanis Club of Broussard-Youngsville, Louisiana are two of the organizations that utilize the parish tins for fundraising. The remaining 1,000 tins Piro sells himself. All tins are sold by the end of each year and are sold out for this year. The tins will be available again for next year.
After Piro does the ordering, the tins and coasters come in separately. The orders come in with all coasters for each restaurant together; this means Piro and his wife have to manually separate the coasters into sets. With twenty-five restaurants with two-thousand five hundred coasters, that is 62,500 coasters to organize manually.
