Hour of Code is a global movement with participation from over 100 million kids in 180+ countries.
BROUSSARD, LA – Code Ninjas, Acadiana’s only kid’s STEM & coding center, is hosting two days of free Hour of Code events at its location in Broussard, although participants do need to register. This year for their second annual Hour of Code Event, they will be hosting Microsoft’s Minecraft Escape Estate – a digital escape room in the Minecraft Education edition. Kids will need to solve puzzles and code their escape as they work through the Minecraft map.
The event will be held on Sundays December 11th and 18th for kids ages 7+ several times throughout the day to maximize availability. Interested participants can register for a time slot here: or call the center for more information.
Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics! There are nearly 700,000 open computing jobs in the US, but only 80,000 computer science students graduated into the workforce last year. And, 47 percent of schools in the U.S. don’t offer computer science.
With many schools struggling to have the funds or expertise to offer coding, robotics, and other educational technologies, Code Ninjas has stepped up to provide engaging hands-on learning programs with students in Acadiana. They are equipped to cover coding fundamentals and game building, coding robotics and drones, 3D printing, and other STEM activities.
“Code Ninjas provides a level of coding and technology skills that is rarely accessible to children yet is necessary for 21st century learning.”, explains owner Craig Rapinchuk, a former administrator and educator.
