KAREN LAGRANGE COX
After growing up in New Iberia, LA, Ryan Romero was impressed by the Marine Corps. Romero said the way the Marine Corps carried themselves was second to none. He joined the United States Marine Corp in January 1999 and served four years until 2003.
After arriving at boot camp in Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, CA, two weeks later he decided to enlist as a boot PVT. From there he went to Air Traffic Control school in Pensacola, FL. His first duty station was at Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort in SC.
After that he went to a secondary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) school at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in MD. Romero said “being Marines on an ARMY base so you better believe they were always louder, sharper, and trained harder than anyone else on base”. From there he received orders to Squadron HMLA 773 in Atlanta, GA training reservists.
In 2003 he left the Corps as a Corporal.
Romero said “he is married to wonderful wife Sarah and mother of mother to their beautiful daughters and awesome son”.
