Broussard & Youngsville Announce Joint Road Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 26, 202

The City of Broussard and the City of Youngsville jointly announced a major project today – the Broussard-Youngsville Connector. The new major arterial will connect the top two growing cities in Lafayette Parish. It is a partnership between both mayors and a great example of working together for the greater good of the community. This roadway will serve as a major arterial connecting Youngsville Highway 89 to South Bernard Road, Ambassador Caffery, and Hwy 90.

Mayor Ray Bourque states, “Broussard is expanding at an unreconnected rate. In the last four years, our administration has seen explosive growth. As more people choose to move to Broussard, we see more development, but also more traffic. Therefore, the need to plan roads that alleviate congestion is important. We are pleased to collaborate with Youngsville’s Mayor Ritter to address the growth of both of our cities.”

Mayor Ken Ritter shares the same sentiment. “We remain steadfast in our commitment that population growth will not outpace our infrastructure. A new two-lane roundabout at Fortune Road and Youngsville Highway along with a new east-west connector to Broussard is much needed. We will continue to work together with our friends in Broussard to meet the demands of our growing cities.”

The two cities will work together on the Broussard-Youngsville Connector. Broussard estimates construction to being in the first quarter of 2023 with a six-month construction timeline at a cost of $485,000. Youngsville estimates construction to begin in January 2023 with a one-year timeline and an estimated cost of $6 million.

As these two cities continue to grow in population, the need to build the infrastructure to expeditiously move traffic is imperative. The connector will provide traffic relief in Broussard and Youngsville neighborhoods. This will aid in improved traffic flow during peak times such as the commute to and from school and work.
