The City of Broussard held its Budget Hearing for the 2022/2023 Amended Budget and the 2023/2024 Proposed Budget on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. The City Council approved the 2023/2024 Proposed Budget.
The budget shows a total operating revenues of $44,177,469 with a total operating expenditures of $43,470,324.
The 2023/2024 Approved Proposed Budget includes an eight percent pay increase ($6,843) for the mayor, bringing the mayor’s pay to $92,386.00. In the 2022/2023 budget, the mayor’s annual pay was $85,543.00.
Annual pay for Broussard council members and the alderman-at-large for the 2023/2024 budget stayed the same as in the 2022/2023 budget; council members’ annual pay is $18,000.00, and the alderman-at-large’s annual pay is $24,000.00.
The general government and economic development employees received a merit raise of eight percent.
The Broussard City Police Chief received an eight percent increase in salary, while police officers received a pay scale step increase of eight percent.
The Fire Department staff and employees of Streets and Drainage received an eight percent merit raise.
Total Capital Outlay project cost is $40,241,211 with $19,066,165 in the budget. Total capital project assets to be funded by $11,069,982 in grants, making the net cost of projects to be funded by the City of Broussard in the amount of $7,996,183.
