UPDATE: LPD Investigating Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian

Update

Lafayette Police have concluded the traffic crash investigation which occurred on March 22, 2023, on the 1400 Block Camellia Boulevard near Starling Lane. The investigation determined that a male pedestrian attempted to cross the northwest travel lanes on the 1400 block of Camellia Boulevard, and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the outside lane of Camellia Boulevard, headed towards Kaliste Saloom Road. The pedestrian sustained a severe leg injury as a result of the impact, and was immediately given lifesaving medical treatment by Lafayette Police upon their arrival. Lafayette Police then transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where he further received medical care and eventually listed in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, submitted to a voluntary chemical test where no impairment was found. Although a violation committed by the pedestrian contributed to the crash, no citations were issued due to the injury sustained by the pedestrian, as well as very minimal damage to the vehicle involved.

UPDATE

All lanes of Camellia Boulevard have been reopened and traffic flow returned to normal.

Lafayette Police Investigating Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police are currently on the scene of a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on the 1400 block Camellia Boulevard near Starling Lane. This crash occurred at approximately 8:00 A.M., on this date. As a result of the crash, the pedestrian sustained a severe leg injury and was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.

Due to the crash investigation, both lanes of Camellia Boulevard, headed towards Kaliste Saloom Road, have been temporarily closed. Motorists are urged to take an alternate route.This crash is currently under investigation and an update will be provided as more information becomes available.
