The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder to not leave children in cars:

“As summer temperatures increase, please remember that children should not be left unattended in a car for any period of time. A child’s body temperature rises three to five times faster than an adult’s. Temperatures in a car can reach dangerous levels quickly, making children more vulnerable to permanent injury or a heat-related death.”
