Social Media Threats Involving Schools

Lafayette, LA – Today at 9:29 a.m. Lafayette Police Department was notified there was a threat made against a school administrator at Northside High.  The threat made mention, via social media, that this administrator would be shot.  The school was placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of the staff and students.   Investigators with the Youth Services Section are actively investigating the incident.

In an unrelated incident on November 28, 2022, through a continuous investigation, a juvenile student at Paul Breaux Middle School was placed under arrest and placed into the Juvenile Detention Home on one count of Terrorizing.  This arrest stems from the bomb threat that occurred at Paul Breaux Middle School on October 10, 2022.

The Lafayette Police Department would like to emphasize that false information or false social media threats of violence will never be tolerated under any circumstances. These situations that have occurred this week in our school systems, are affecting everyone in the community and must stop.  The Lafayette Police Department will continue to enforce all laws pertaining to these types of situations.
