Youngsville Chief of Police, Rickey Boudreaux, has officially announced his retirement this afternoon, with his effective retirement date set for August 21, 2023 at 12:01 am. Boudreaux cited medical reasons as the reason for his decision, revealing that he has undergone five heart attacks and received ten stents. The cumulative toll on his health, compounded by the relentless stress of his position, has ultimately led him to this point.
Boudreaux shared that after consulting with both his medical provider and his family, he has concluded that retirement is the only viable option. Additionally, he acknowledged the strained relationship between himself and the city council, admitting that this turmoil has hindered his ability to effectively lead.
Expressing a profound sense of attachment to his role, Boudreaux confessed that this decision was difficult and emotional. He expressed deep fondness for his job, which has been marked by a genuine dedication to public service. He extended his gratitude to the citizens, his family, and his colleagues – his “work family” – for their support throughout his tenure.
Boudreaux took a moment to offer an apology to anyone who might feel let down or disappointed in him.
In closing, Chief Boudreaux stated he would still be available to anyone who needed his help and that his number would stay the same.
