The tradition of dressing up for Easter was alive and well in years past, just as it is today. This photo, taken in 1960, is a throwback to that era’s Easter outfits.
Pretty, frilly Easter dresses, hats, and patent leather shoes were traditional Easter attire for girls. The boys looked dapper in their suits and ties.
There are many different ways to interpret the meaning of wearing new clothes for Easter. Some people see it as a way of showing commitment to their faith. Others see it as a way of celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. And still, others see it as a way of simply enjoying the special occasion of Easter.
No matter what interpretation someone may have, wearing new clothes for Easter is a fun and festive way to celebrate the holiday.
