Lafayette, LA – Regarding the homicide that occurred on Sunday, July 09, 2023, in the 100 block of Vaucluse Drive, investigators have arrested the suspect responsible for the shooting, Shawntravin Sampy (B/M/21) of Lafayette, Louisiana. This afternoon Sampy arrived at the Lafayette Police Department and turned himself in. He was arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on his warrant for one count of second-degree murder.

Lafayette, LA – On Sunday night, July 9, 2023, at 11:44 p.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 100 block of Vaucluse Drive due to reports of a shooting in progress. Upon Officers’ arrival on the scene, one subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his person was located in the immediate area. Responding Officers determined that the subject was deceased and established a crime scene. Investigators responded to the scene and are actively following leads.
The victim has been identified as an eighteen-year-old male, Joshua Cobb, of Abbeville, Louisiana. The investigation is ongoing, and additional details shall be provided as Investigators determine their findings via leads.
