UPDATE
CARENCRO, La. (Mar. 28, 2024) – A second arrest has been made in the March 1, 2024, shooting on Bradford Drive that left a Carencro High School student dead.
Twenty-year-old Todd Arceneaux Jr. was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in connection to the shooting in which eighteen-year-old Jaylon Joiner was killed.
This case remains under investigation.

CARENCRO, La. (Mar. 4, 2024) – An arrest has been made in Friday’s shooting on Bradford Drive that left a Carencro High School student dead.
Malikai Doucet, nineteen, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder following the shooting in which eighteen-year-old Jaylon Joiner was killed.
This case remains under investigation, and additional arrests are expected.

LPSO investigators confirmed the victim in this case, identified as Carencro High School student Jaylon Joiner, eighteen, has died as a result of the injuries sustained during the shooting.

CARENCRO, La. (Mar. 1, 2024) – The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) is investigating a Friday afternoon shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Bradford Drive in Carenco, Louisiana.
Deputies responded to the scene about a report of a shooting just after 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local medical facility with what were deemed to be life-threatening injuries.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim was shot as he was exiting a school bus.
It is believed that several suspects are involved in this incident, and deputies have detained at least one person regarding the investigation.
This investigation remains ongoing. Further information will be provided when developed and deemed appropriate to release.
