Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics, Firearm and Money Seizure
Lafayette, LA – On January 19th, 2023 the Lafayette Police Department’s Narcotics Street Team was conducting proactive patrol on the Moss Street corridor. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2021 Ram truck for equipment violations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kaelan J. Onezine (1-28-98). Through the course of the investigation, officers recovered approximately 27 pounds of marijuana (DEA street value $243,44.00), $6,163.10 U.S. currency and a Springfield 9mm pistol. Kaelan Onezine was subsequently arrested for: Illegal carrying of a firearm, possession with the intent to deliver Schedule I narcotics, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and monies derived from drug proceeds.
