The Broussard City Council meeting on September 26, 2023, had property condemnations, resolutions, and Ordinances for Introduction.

Properties for Condemnation

Condemnation of 107 North Eola Road – Carolyn F. Lebleu. The owner requested thirty days due to wanting to sell the property. The city council motioned for condemnation while allowing the owner time to produce a sale contract for the property within those thirty days.

Condemnation of 411 Avenue D – Gery Marcombe – The representative of the property is to allow the property to be inspected by the city; this item will be brought back to the council at the next city council meeting.

Condemnation of 400 East Third Street – Jason and Angela Richard – The property owners did not sign for condemnation letter sent to them by the city; this item was removed from the agenda. Another certified mailing is to be sent to the property owners. This item will be put on the agenda for the next city council meeting.

Condemnation of 304 East Madison Street – Douglas and Willa Dean Chesson Family, LLC. The property owners are in the process of hiring a demolition company to tear it down or remove it as a whole. Motioned approved by the council for condemnation of the property.

Approved Resolutions

Ordinance #756-23: A resolution accepting that certain act of dedication of the sewer lift station site from McLain Investments, LLC in the Reserve Subdivision

Ordinance #757-23: A resolution declaring the contract for the 12″ Waterline along Ambassador Caffery from Highway 89 to Bonin Road to be substantially complete

Ordinance #758-23: A resolution declaring the contract for the reconstruction of LaNeuville Road to be substantially complete

Ordinance #759-23: A resolution declaring the contract for the construction of a turn lane on St. Nazaire Road to be substantially complete

Ordinance #761-23: A resolution awarding the low quote for the demolition and disposal service of the old water plant and the building – $24,640 from Pellerin & Sons, Inc.

Ordinance #762-23: A resolution adopting the 2022/2023 Systems Compliance Questionnaire

Approved: Ordinance #763-23: A resolution declaring the contract for the construction of the Sugar Trace South Lift Station and Force Main Upgrade as substantially complete

Approved Ordinances for Introduction

Ordinance #23-781: An ordinance amended the 2023-2024 Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures to increase the authorized expenditures for the West Fairfield Road Extension Project. The budgeted amount for the project was $443,000; the amount of the increase for the project is $174,000.

Ordinance #23-782: An ordinance amending the 2023-2024 Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures to increase the authorized expenditures for the Main Street Improvements – Phase 3A. The amount of the increase for the improvement is $90,000.

Ordinance #23-783: An ordinance amending the 2023-2024 Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures to increase the authorized expenditures for the West Fairfield and North Larriviere Intersection Improvements Project. The Budgeted amount for the project was $222,500; the amount of the increase for the project is $151,500; the total amount of the project is $374,000.

The meeting was held at 310 East Main Street in Broussard.
