Jamie Creed is the owner of BY Local News Media, a woman-owned online newspaper dedicated to sharing stories that connect and inform the communities of Broussard and Youngsville, Louisiana.

Jamie’s storytelling journey began while living abroad in Japan, where she developed a appreciation for capturing and sharing everyday local experiences. She share her adventures in Japan on her blog, Life of Creed.

An active member of the Rotary Club of Youngsville and involved in several community organizations, Jamie remains deeply engaged in the community. Through BY Local News Media, she is committed to amplifying local voices, supporting small businesses, and strengthening community connections.

Our Story

BY Local News Media began in August 2022 with a simple but meaningful idea, to create a local platform where the community could stay informed and connected.

The vision started with founder Karen Cox after her father, while in a nursing home, mentioned there wasn’t a local newspaper available. She responded, “Wait, there will be.” That moment sparked the creation of what would become BY Local News.

Within weeks, the foundation for the website was built, and by October 11, 2022, BY Local News officially became a business. What started as a solution quickly grew into a trusted source for local information and community updates.

Since then, BY Local News Media has reached over 1.1 million users, becoming a recognized platform for sharing what’s happening locally.

In 2025, Jamie Creed became the sole owner, bringing a fresh vision and evolving the platform into a modern, social-first media brand focused on connection, visibility, and community.

Today, BY Local News Media continues to build on its original purpose, keeping the community informed, while expanding into a space that highlights the stories, events, people, and businesses that make Youngsville unique.
