Washington (January 28, 2026) – Senator John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $479,804,729 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants for Louisiana. These grants will fund restoration and hazard mitigation efforts related to Hurricanes Isaac, Laura, Zeta, Ida, and Francine, and cover costs associated with saltwater intrusion and additional storms and flooding.

This $479.8 million will help communities across our state recover from storms, hurricanes, and other disasters by supporting critical repairs, debris removal, emergency response, and key infrastructure projects,” said Kennedy.
The FEMA aid will fund the following:

- $59,679,166 to Jefferson Parish for the replacement of a severely damaged water line spanning 41 miles, new valve station construction, and related hazard mitigation efforts.
- $37,519,275 to the South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association for repairs to the power distribution line providing electrical power to the Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center in Houma, La.
- $30,382,233 to the South Louisiana Electric Cooperative Association for permanent repairs to a damaged 3.9-mile power transmission system from West Houma, La., to Matherne, La., and related hazard mitigation efforts.
