One Dead After Altercation on Louveteau Road

LAFAYETTE, LA (May 31, 2024) – Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s (LPSO) Detectives are investigating a Thursday night altercation that left one man dead and another under arrest.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Louveteau Road outside of Carencro, Louisiana, around 10:15 p.m., where an unresponsive male with an apparent gunshot wound was located in the roadway. A short time later, deputies were informed that this individual, identified as 34-year-old Troydell Simmons, succumbed to his injuries.

Throughout the investigation, LPSO detectives learned that Simmons was engaged in a physical altercation with Thaddius Livings, 30, involving both a knife and a firearm.

Livings was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for one count of Manslaughter.

This investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
