Scammers will sometimes make phone calls and ask something like “can you hear me”? DO NOT RESPOND – HANG UP IMMEDIATELY.
Their scam is an attempt is to get you to say “yes” so that your voice is recorded saying yes. The scammer may then use that recording as your authorization for a purchase.
Check your bank and credit card statements along with phone bills frequently to ensure there are no unauthorized charges. If any are found, report to your bank, credit card company or phone provider.
