Update on Youngsville Sport Complex

The following are updates provided by Tim Robicheaux, Director of the Youngsville Sports Complex at last night’s Youngsville City Council meeting.

SPORTS PROGRAMS:

  • YSC baseball/softball league finished registration.
  • Opening Day will be this Saturday, of course depending on the weather.
  • Sugar beach spring league has started with 100 plus teams.  
  • FNA is registering for the spring flag football with around and scheduled to start practice April 24.
  • All Tennis Programming Continues. The first collegiate match with UL men’s tennis versus South Alabama was held on March 26 and the UL women’s match against Marshall was held on April 2. September 15-17 will be the first collegiate tennis tournament.
  • Soccer will finish their spring season this weekend.

RECREATION CENTER:

  • All pickleball, council on aging, free play continues.
  • Basketball camps and tournaments have begun.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Chamber Guns N Hoses sand VB tournament took place on March 31.

A chamber banquet was held this past Tuesday.

USA Power lifting event on April 22.

Sr. Olympics Pickleball tournament on May 6.

MMA EVENT to take place on Memorial Day weekend May 27.

Partnership with 2D baseball has begun and hosting their tournaments.

Pony girls WS will be back in 2024 and 2025.

CAPITOL OUTLAY PROJECTS

Pixus Splash Park

  • Protective netting is complete. Surfacing going down now next will be AC for restroom building, completion of fencing and sodding. Pixus entrance sign, benches, tables with umbrellas are scheduled to be installed before our opening. We are getting closer to being able to schedule an opening date.

New Expansion

  • Progressing along with the amphitheater first then movement on the rest of the facility.

Youngsville Parks and Recreation

  • LUS has run fiber to Foster Park so we can now have internet with video cameras and alarms installed at the concession building and the maintenance barn.
  • Working with Angie on our new website for Parks and Rec where all the information will be on the satellite parks, park police and staffing. Also, with Angie we are redesigning our current Sports Complex site to be more mobile friendly and have an updated design including more video clips and photos. It will also feature the new expansion, Pixus splash park, amphitheater, and pickleball complex.
