Lafayette, LA – On May 23, 2023, the Lafayette Police Department’s Youth Services Section arrested Clemonia Onezime, 22, of Lafayette, Louisiana. This arrest stems from a report filed by the two-year-old victim’s parent of allegations of cruelty that occurred on April 28, 2023.

The allegations were that on the above-mentioned date, Ms. Onezime, who was employed at the time at a local daycare in the 800 block of Pandora Street, grabbed the victim under her care and slammed him to the ground due to his not wanting to take a nap.  Ms. Onezime was also observed placing the victim in a prone position on a mat where she placed her thigh on his lower back and used her body weight to restrict the victim from moving.

Ms. Onezime was arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count of Cruelty to Juveniles.

The Lafayette Police Department has provided this information.
