LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA – As a result of the boil water advisory issued by the Lafayette Utilities System today, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is activating protocols at both of its correctional facilities to ensure the health and safety of both the offenders and staff.

As part of the protocols, staff at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Facility in downtown Lafayette and the Direct Supervision Unit on West Willow Street will be providing safe drinking water to offenders as well as temporarily switching all offender meals to meals which do not require any water in their preparation.

Family members and loved ones of Lafayette Parish offenders can rest assured these protocols will make certain the boil water advisory has no negative effects on the individuals housed in LPSO’s facilities.
