Broussard Police Make Arrest in Damage to Property

Broussard, October 12, 2023:

Broussard, LA: On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at approximately 9:12 a.m., Officers with the Broussard Police Department responded to the 200 Block of West Main Street for reported damage to property.

Upon officers’ arrival, they learned that a marble statue of Jesus displayed outside of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church was damaged. They also learned that a second metal statue was damaged at a business in the 100 Block of West Main Street.

Investigators were able to determine that the suspect (John Derrick Baptiste B/M 39 YOA) was responsible for the damage at both locations.

Baptiste was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for two counts of Felony Criminal Damage to Property.
