The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) announced on November 28, 2023, that Dr. Jade Calais has been appointed principal of Youngsville Middle School.
About Dr. Calais
Dr. Jade Calais began her teaching career at Northside High School as a speech and drama instructor. She then spent nine impactful years at Acadiana High School, where she excelled as an English language arts and reading teacher and later as a school librarian. Her passion for literacy motivated her to work jointly with a brand-new staff, administration, and the Youngsville community to open Southside High School’s Media Academic Center (The M.A.C.), leaving her mark as the first-ever librarian at SHS.
Transitioning to Broussard Middle School in 2018 as the instructional leader, Calais played a pivotal role in the school’s exceptional growth, contributing to a notable 8.2-point increase in the school performance score over the past five years. Under her leadership, Broussard Middle School ascended from a C to a high B rating, earning recognition as a Comeback School by the state of Louisiana in 2022 and a 2023 Top Gains Honoree.
In 2020, Calais assumed the role of assistant principal at Broussard Middle School, showcasing her commitment to academic excellence and student success. Concurrently, she has been a dedicated adjunct faculty member at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s College of Education and Human Development, shaping the next generation of educators.
Dr. Calais expresses her passion for serving others, emphasizing her love for the community of Youngsville. As she steps into her new role as principal, she looks forward to fostering collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, recognizing the collective effort required to make a lasting impact on the students in her community.
