LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 3, 2023, 7:23 p.m.) – Lafayette Police Department, along with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department, checked the area drains and coulee system and were able to locate the male suspect, identified as Christopher James Landry, a thirty-two-year-old black male, of Lafayette, Louisiana. A handgun was found with the suspect. The suspect was arrested and charged with battery of a dating partner, aggravated assault on a dating partner, attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, illegal discharge of a firearm, and resisting arrest. There were no injuries.
LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 9, 2023) – At approximately 2:17 p.m., officers responded to a fight/disturbance call involving weapons on the 300 block of Harrington Drive. Upon officers arrival a female and male suspect believed to be involved in the disturbance ran from the scene.
The male and female suspects traveled by foot to the area of Peppermill Drive and North St. Antoine Street, where the female suspect jumped a fence. The male suspect fired a handgun at an officer. The officer did return fire when fired upon. The male suspect entered a coulee.
There are no injuries reported. Officers are currently containing the area in an attempt to locate the suspects.
