WASHINGTON (Dec. 11, 2023) – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant Louisiana a total of $2,232,000.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for road safety infrastructure projects.
“When writing the Infrastructure Law, improving the quality of life for our communities was a priority,” said Dr. Cassidy. “By addressing road safety, we are creating a better environment for the next generation of Louisianans to live.”

| $1,480,000.00 | Vulnerable Road Users Safety Improvement Program for the Rapides Area | This grant will provide federal funding for the Rapides Area Planning Commission to update its Local Road Safety Plan to meet SS4A Action Plan requirements; develop comprehensive safety action plans for five rural cities; create an ADA Transition Plan for the region; and collect data. |

| $352,000.00 | City of Gretna Transportation Safety Action Plan and Demonstration Activities | This grant will provide federal funding to develop a comprehensive safety action plan and to pilot demonstration activities such as temporary “Yield Here to Pedestrians” signage and high-visibility crosswalks at six intersections. |
