LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 28, 2023) The Lafayette Police Department is proud to partner with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in a ‘Special Wave’ enforcement endeavor targeting impaired drivers operating motor vehicles on the roadway. This ‘Special Wave’ is called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and will continue through the New Year’s holiday weekend, concluding on Monday, January 1, 2024.

During this initiative, Lafayette Police will conduct high visibility patrols within the incorporated city limits of Lafayette. They will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be impaired while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/narcotics. The Lafayette Police Department thanks the public for cooperating in this most important safety endeavor and wishes everyone a safe and happy new year.
