Additional Arrest

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 23, 2024) – On January 22, 2024, a juvenile suspect (black/male/16) was arrested for his involvement in the homicide that occurred on December 30, 2023, in the 100 block of Ancelet Street.  The juvenile suspect turned himself in and was booked into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Home on his warrant for second-degree murder.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 31, 2023, 3:22 p.m.) – The victim has been identified as Ricky Bernard Jr., twenty-nine, of Lafayette, Louisiana.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 31, 2023, 2:47 a.m.) – On 12/31/2023, The Lafayette Police Department arrested Calnisha Calloway, twenty-seven, of Lafayette, Lousiana, in connection with this homicide investigation. Calloway was charged with one count of principal to second-degree murder. Calloway has been booked into LPCC for the aforementioned charges. This case is still under investigation, and more arrests are expected to follow.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Dec. 30, 2023, 9:23 p.m.) – Today at 5:10 p.m., The Lafayette Police Department (LPD) responded to the 100 block of Ancelet Street about a shooting incident in progress. Upon arrival, one male victim was located in the area, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his person. Life-saving measures were performed until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A crime scene was established, and investigators were called to the scene. The incident remains under investigation, as LPD Investigators are working diligently to develop the suspect’s identity.
