LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 15, 2024, 9:07 p.m.) – Officers responded to the address of 100 PHI Drive about a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Preliminary investigation revealed that Vehicle 1 was entering a gate at the address when, for unknown reasons, the pedestrian entered the gate entrance and was struck by Vehicle 1. The pedestrian died on the scene as a result of his injuries. Impairment is not suspected in the crash. Driver 1 was transported to the Lafayette Police Department and submitted to a voluntary breath sample. The result of that sample was 0.000 g% BAC. This crash is still under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Unit.

The deceased was identified as Richard J Vidrine Sr., seventy-one, of Washington, Louisiana.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 15, 2024) – On January 15, 2024, 2024 at 4:19 p.m., The Lafayette Police Department responded to the 100 block of PHI Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana, regarding a pedestrian-involved motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the pedestrian was deceased as a result of the accident. Traffic investigators were called out to the scene, where they began investigating the incidents leading up to the accident.

An update shall be provided as Traffic Investigators gather details and findings.
