LCG Declares Civil Leave; Trash and Transite Also Suspended

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 16, 2024) – In response to record-low freezing temperatures, Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Boulet has declared Civil Leave for Lafayette Consolidated Government employees beginning at 8:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Civil Leave ends at 12:00 p.m. on the same day – Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Due to road and bridge closures, the Lafayette Transit System (LTS) also announce all transit services will be suspended for January 16, 2024.  This includes Night Owl and paratransit services.  Regular transit service will resume on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 5:45 AM.

For the abundance of safety, Acadiana Waste Services (AWS) will suspend trash collection on January 16, 2024, for solid waste collection in the City of Lafayette and the unincorporated parts of Lafayette Parish. Regular service will resume on January 17, 2024.

LCG continues to monitor weather conditions across the area; motorists are urged to remain off the roadways unless travel is essential.
