UPDATE
Lafayette, LA (Jan.29, 2024, 8:37 p.m.) – The victim from Friday night’s hit and run has succumbed to his injuries sustained as a result of the crash. The victim has been identified as Daniel Ben, a thirty-nine-year-old black male from Lafayette, Louisiana. In addition, an arrest has been made regarding this incident.
The suspect, Lani Richard, a forty-four-year-old white female of Lafayette, has been arrested and booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the charges of one count of felony hit and run.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 27, 2024, 10:42 a.m.) – In regards to last night’s hit and run involving a pedestrian, the preliminary on-scene investigation revealed vehicle #1 was traveling southbound in the center turn lane in the 100 block of Verot School Road. Vehicle 1 struck pedestrian #1, who was walking in the center turn lane. Vehicle 1 then fled the scene. The pedestrian was unresponsive on the scene. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered on the scene. Pedestrian #1 was transported to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Jan. 27, 2024) – The Lafayette Police Department was on the scene of a hit-and-run vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred in the 100 block of Verot School Road at approximately 11:42 p.m. on January 26, 2024. Traffic Investigators were on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
