LAFAYETTE, La. (Feb. 6, 2024 1:21 p.m.) – The victim in this fatal accident has been identified as a one Wilton S. Miller, sixty-two, of Alexandria, Louisiana.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Feb. 6, 2024 08:18 a.m.) – The preliminary on-scene investigation revealed the following: On February 5, 2024, at 08:41 p.m., vehicle 1 was traveling northbound in the inside lane at the 3700 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway. For unknown reasons pedestrian 1 was walking in the northbound inside lane at the 3700 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway when the crash occurred. Pedestrian 1 was pronounced deceased on the scene. Driver 1 provided a voluntary breath sample that yielded 0.00g% BAC. Driver 1 was cited for safety belt and window tint violations.

The victim’s identification in this incident will be released upon a next of kin being located and notified. The Lafayette Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating this crash.

LAFAYETTE, La. (Feb. 5, 2024) – The Lafayette Police Department is currently on scene in the 3600 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway, in regards to an accident. Preliminary investigation details that a motor vehicle collided with a pedestrian in the roadway of Ambassador Caffery Parkway. Upon arrival, it was determined that the pedestrian was deceased as a result of the accident.

Traffic investigators have been called out to the scene and are actively investigating the incidents that led up to the accident. An update shall be provided as Traffic Investigators gather details and findings.

The 3600 block of Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.will be closed for normal flow of traffic for at least two hours. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route of travel.
