The Barber Society Tar Heels Basketball team comprises eighth graders within Lafayette, Louisiana, and surrounding communities. This group of talented young men have been playing together on various teams, some since the age of ten.
To become a member of the Barber Society Tar Heels Basketball team, players must be eager to play basketball, strive to learn the fundamentals of the game, and be a team player.
In addition to playing sports, most players excel in their academic endeavors at their respective schools. They are honor roll recipients and honor society members. Our program places great emphasis on the “whole” athlete. Players are developed not only athletically but spiritually and academically as well.
The team travels to different tournaments, competing with other high-caliber players over
the country.
The Barber Society Tar Heels Basketball program provides young players with an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of college coaches from all over the United States. The ultimate goal of the players is to obtain a college scholarship, and this program aims to help them achieve that goal.
It can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to participate in these basketball tournaments. However, sponsorships and donations make it possible for players to get the exposure needed to advance.
For anyone interested in helping the Barber Society Tar Heels Basketball program with expenses for a successful Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) program, any donation is acceptable. 501(c) information is available upon request.
