LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (Feb. 12, 2024) – Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in the 800 block of Ridge Road.
Deputies were called out to the scene at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning about the crash in which a bicyclist was killed.
An investigation was conducted by the Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Team, utilizing assets of the Real Time Crime Center. As a result, a suspect was identified, questioned, and arrested.
Stephen Dimmick, sixty-seven, was placed under arrest and charged with Hit-and-Run: Serious Bodily Injury or Death as well as Driving Under Suspension.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until notification is made to the next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
