WASHINGTON – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly passed the national security supplemental funding bill by a vote of 79-18. Cassidy voted in support of the package which included $26.4 billion for Israel.
“200 days after Hamas’s barbaric attack on Israeli civilians, the United States is sending a clear message we will not abandon our allies. This bill enables Israel to defend itself while ensuring no U.S. troops are put in harm’s way,” said Dr. Cassidy. “The American people will not allow Hamas to win a war by killing civilians and using Palestinians as human shields.”
