A salute to Retired United States Army Master Sergeant (E-8) Adam Mouton. He served from 1961 to 1982.
His military career included two tours in Vietnam. The first tour was from 1967 to 1968, serving in the F Troop, 8th Cavalry Regiment. The second tour was from 1970 to 1971, serving in the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV), to support South Vietnamese armies. His Vietnam tours were in the I Corps by the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in South Vietnam.
A founding member of the Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard (AVHG), Mouton serves as the organization’s bugler. AVHG conducts military funerals, flag ceremonies, memorials, and dedications. The organization also holds a pinning ceremony for veterans in hospice care with Acadiana Hospice.
AVHG has been in existence for ten years and operates strictly off donations. The organization is always in need of honorable discharged veterans to join its honor guard.
