In my first job after dropping out of college, I admired all the elite salespeople. So much so that I would spend most of my time with them, trying to learn the lingo and other tricks that I thought made them successful. The more I spent time around them, the more I realized that they were regular people just like me.
However, there was one thing they possessed that I didn’t……confidence. They weren’t trying to be the best. Rather, they already knew in themselves that they were the best. They weren’t concerned about what they would say to a future customer; they knew what they needed to say would come when the time was right. They believed in themselves.
What I learned during that time in my life and hold on to till this day is that you have to graduate past the gratitude of a group of individuals you look up to and look yourself in the mirror and know that what they possess, you also do. Believing in yourself with the same belief as you do with the people you admire. I had to give myself permission to be and belong. Believing in yourself will have you showing up differently, dressing differently, having a better handshake, listening, talking, discerning, and so on. Believing in yourself is where it starts.
