Cassidy Announces $10 Million in Transportation Projects for Louisiana from His Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON (June 24, 2024) – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation will grant Louisiana $10,141,098.00 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) in RAISE grants. Cassidy advocated on behalf of the Lower LA Highway 1 Resiliency Plan and Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District projects. 

“By enhancing transportation access across Louisiana, we are creating avenues to build an economy for 2050,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These were the type of projects I had in mind when helping author the Infrastructure Law.”

Grant AwardedRecipientProject Description
$7,363,098.00Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal DistrictThis grant will provide federal funding for the preliminary design activities for phase III of the Peters Road Bridge and extension.
$2,450,000.00City of SlidellThis grant will provide federal funding for the planning, feasibility, and design activities for Phase II of the Bayou Patassat Green Corridor Project.  
$328,000.00Lafourche ParishThis grant will provide federal funding for the development of a comprehensive resiliency plan for approximately 7-miles of LA Hwy 1 along the Gulf of Mexico from Port Fourchon to the parish border at Thunder Bayou.

IIJA included $7.5 billion for RAISE grants, formerly known as BUILD grants, which support transportation projects of local and regional significance.
