LAFAYETTE, LA (June 27, 2024, 7:40 a.m.) – An arrest has been made in connection with this homicide investigation. On June 26, 2024, at 4 p.m., Lafayette Police Department Investigators arrested Kayden Wilson, 19, of Ville Platte, Louisiana, charging him with one count of 2nd-degree murder. Kayden Wilson has been booked into Lafayette Parish Correction Center for the aforementioned charge. This incident remains under investigation.

LAFAYETTE, LA (June 26, 2024, 8:38 a.m.) – The victim from last night’s shooting has been identified as Toren Martin (18) of Lafayette. All three suspects involved in the vehicle pursuit have been arrested on unrelated charges. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

LAFAYETTE, LA (June 26, 2024, 1:33 a.m.) – Just before midnight, the Lafayette Police Department (LPD) received a 911 call regarding several shots being fired near an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Robley Drive. Officers arrived on scene a located a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided life-saving medical aid until the victim was transported to an area hospital, where they later died as a result of their injuries.
During the initial investigation, Lafayette Police officers located a vehicle possibly involved in the shooting traveling on a roadway nearby. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle refused to stop and fled. A vehicle pursuit ensues, leading officers into Vermilion Parish. The vehicle pursuit ended in the Kaplan area, and three suspects were taken into custody.
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene detectives are on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
