Transplant recipients throughout the state of Louisiana celebrate their second chance at life while honoring their donor heroes
COVINGTON, LA (June 27, 2024) – Transplant recipients from throughout the state of Louisiana will participate in the 2024 Transplant Games of America (TGA) in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 5th through 10th, 2024. Team Louisiana is made up of transplant recipients, donor families, living donors and professionals from the transplant and donation community. Team LA’s 30 plus athletes will compete in events such as cycling, swimming, volleyball, track and field, basketball, poker, cornhole, bowling, ballroom dancing and more.
For 33 years, the Transplant Games have united a community of individuals who have been touched by the miracle of donation and transplantation. The Games take place every two years to celebrate the gift of life given through donation and to bring awareness to the crucial need for life-saving organs.
The Games include over 20 competitions for recipients and living donors, along with 60 plus special events throughout the week. The TGA honor the lasting legacy of donors who have given the ultimate gift – the gift of life, while celebrating the ever-growing living donation world and saluting the recipients who are living, breathing proof that transplantation truly saves, and heals, lives.
