Suspects Arrested for Intentionally Setting Vehicle on Fire

LAFAYETTE, LA (July 2, 2024) – Lafayette firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at Eagle Run Apartments, 810 South College Drive, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 12:57 a.m. When firefighters arrived, one vehicle was fully involved in the parking lot. The flames were spreading to two adjacent vehicles. After the fire was extinguished, three vehicles sustained fire damage.

Lafayette fire investigators determined the vehicle fire was intentionally set. Through a criminal investigation, two individuals were identified as possible suspects. Arrest warrants were obtained for Judd Guilbeau, a white male (43), and Mariah Janik, a white female (35). Both suspects were charged with one (1) count of Simple Arson and two (2) counts of Criminal Damage to Property.

The suspects turned themselves in at Lafayette Parish Correctional Center last night.
