LAFAYETTE, LA ( July 15, 2024) July is known for fireworks and this year it’s ushering in an explosive change within the Acadiana television news landscape. The results of the Nielsen May sweeps ratings data were just recently revealed for the Lafayette television market – and it reflects a dramatic shift in viewers for late local news.

In the coveted adults 25-54 demographic, News 15 (KADN-FOX & KLAF-NBC) ‘Your Local News Authority’ is in a virtual tie for #1 at 10 p.m. with a 4.9 combined rating (alongside KATC), with KLFY in third place with a 4.1 rating. A year ago in May 2023, KLFY was on top with a 6.3 and News 15 was third with a .08.

“The switch is on,” said Jim Parker, Executive Director of News & Public Affairs for KADN/KLAF. “News 15 at Ten’s performance is bolstered by Acadiana’s most experienced anchor team in that time slot, Marcelle Fontenot and Jim Hummel, along with a solid and growing lead-in performance by our signature News 15 at Nine with Jeff Horchak and Lauren Ailles.”

The ratings victory at 10 p.m. follows News 15 ‘Your Local News Authority’ being recognized by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters as the state’s Best Newscast, in which it topped not only the other Lafayette stations, but also larger-market competitors in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport.
