LAFAYETTE, LA (July 24, 2024) – The Lafayette Public School System is excited to announce the appointment of Ross Rix as the new head boys’ basketball coach for Northside High School. Ross Rix, an Opelousas, Louisiana, native, brings a distinguished coaching career and a deep commitment to student-athletes to his new role as the head basketball coach at Northside High School. The assignment marks Rix’s second time leading the Vikings on the hardwood. He coached at NHS from 2014 to 2018.

Prior to his appointment at Northside, Rix held the dual role of Head Boys and Girls basketball coach and Athletic Director at JS Clark Leadership Academy, demonstrating his versatility and leadership in managing athletic programs. He has previously served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Bethune-Cookman University in Florida and as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Western Kentucky University, where he honed his skills under top-tier collegiate coaching programs.

Reflecting on his return to Northside, Rix expressed his enthusiasm for being closer to home, and stated, “I am excited to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of all students and players at NHS.”

With a passion for both basketball and education, Ross Rix is poised to inspire and guide the
student-athletes of Northside High School, emphasizing not only athletic excellence but also personal growth and academic achievement.
