LAFAYETTE, LA (August 19, 2024 – In regards to last night’s shooting that occurred originally at a carwash located in the 800 block of N. Pierce Street, an arrest has been made. Two juvenile males were arrested in connection with this incident, one 16 year old (w/m) juvenile was arrested and charged with one count of attempted second degree murder and one count of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.  The second arrest made was also a 16 year old (b/m) that was charged with one count of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.  Both juveniles were booked into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center.  The victim’s health status remains the same, stable but critical

LAFAYETTE, LA (August 18, 2024) – At around 6:21 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a shooting in progress in the 100 block of Lena Street. Once on the scene, officers located one 28-year-old female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable but critical condition. 

Investigation at the scene revealed that the victim, suspect, and one other individual were involved in an altercation before the shooting occurred. The incident remains under investigation, as LPD Investigators are working diligently to determine investigative leads. As more information becomes available, an update will be sent out.
