LAFAYETTE, LA (August 23, 2024) – Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) will begin water leak repairs on Evangeline Thruway and Jefferson Boulevard beginning Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m. and ending on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 5:30 a.m. Southbound Evangeline Throughway will be reduced to one lane from Cameron Street to South Chestnut Street. Both eastbound lanes of Jefferson Boulevard will be closed from South Chestnut Street to southbound Evangeline Throughway. Westbound Jefferson Boulevard will be reduced to one lane from northbound Evangeline Throughway to southbound Evangeline Throughway.
To avoid potential traffic delays, motorists who frequent the affected area are advised to use an alternate route or to incorporate additional time into their schedules. In addition, motorists are urged to be mindful of worker safety when traveling through this area.
