UPDATE from Lafayette Fire Department
LAFAYETTE, LA (September 12, 2024, 4:06 p.m.) – The victim of the fatal aircraft crash has been identified as Gregory “Greg” Manuel of Lafayette, 73.
The small aircraft under investigation departed at 11:35am. 911 received a call at 11:37am which was followed by a prompt response to Oakbourne Country Club by the Lafayette Fire Department. Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff Department and Acadian Ambulance. Lafayette Regional Airport officials were also on the scene to assist with the initial investigation. The crash site was located on the golf course.
Officials with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) arrived on scene to conduct their initial investigation. Representatives with National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to arrive on scene tomorrow. Additional updates will be provided accordingly as more information becomes available

LAFAYETTE, LA (September 12, 2024, 1:45 p.m.) – The small aircraft under investigation departed at 11:35 a.m. 911 received a call at 11:37 a.m. which was followed by a prompt response to Oakbourne Country Club by the Lafayette Fire Department. One confirmed aircraft occupant has been confirmed deceased. No additional information has been confirmed at this time regarding soul(s) on board.
Representatives from the Lafayette Fire Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Acadian Ambulance, Lafayette Airport Commission, and Lafayette Consolidated Government are on the scene. The investigation will be turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and updates will be provided accordingly as more information becomes available.

LAFAYETTE, LA (September 12, 2024, 12:19 p.m.) – The Lafayette Fire Department is investigating an aircraft crash at approximately 11:37 a.m. near Oakbourne Country Club and the 3700 Block of East Simcoe Street. The preliminary investigation involves a small, private aircraft that crashed upon takeoff. One confirmed occupant inside the aircraft was pronounced deceased on site.
Investigators with the Lafayette Fire Department are on scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
