LAFAYETTE, LA (September 14, 2024) – Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) linemen and mutual aid partners from Gainesville Regional Utilities and the City of Tallahassee, Florida, completed Hurricane Francine’s restoration in Houma, Louisiana, and are heading home today.

“We were happy to offer assistance to a neighboring city facing the aftermath of Hurricane Francine,” said Jeffrey Stewart, LUS Director.

The collaboration between LUS and neighboring cities like Gainesville and Tallahassee underscores the spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance that defines the public power community. Through APPA’s mutual aid network, utilities nationwide come together in crisis to provide vital aid and resources to communities in need.
