WASHINGTON (September 16, 2024) – United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will grant the Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District $4,732,022 to improve port safety from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This funding will replace two ferry landing barges on the Belle Chasse-Scarsdale evacuation route, as well as a maintenance barge project.

“Ensuring our ports are safe and efficient is crucial for Plaquemines Parish residents and commuters across our coastal communities,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Because I had a seat at the table for the Infrastructure Law, our economy, workforce, and communities are better off.”
