Disability Awareness Committee to Host Annual Awards Ceremony

LAFAYETTE, LA (September 25, 2024) – The Lafayette Mayor-President’s Disability Awareness Committee will host its annual Awards Ceremony on October 8, 2024. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Robicheaux Recreation Center, located at 1919 Eraste Landry Road. This special event, which is open to the public, aims to honor individuals, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to promoting disability awareness and inclusion in the community.

The ceremony will feature the presentation of the following awards:

  • Non-Profit of the Year
  • Business of the Year
  • Lynette Fontenot Community Achievement Award
  • Vickie Nettles Advocacy Award
  • Public Servant of the Year
  • Youth of the Year

The awards recognize individuals and businesses with an outstanding commitment to advancing the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Community members are invited to attend and join in celebrating these exceptional honorees.
