WASHINGTON (October 1, 2024) – U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) introduced legislation to enhance the quality and efficiency of health care services provided to veterans. The VetPAC Act of 2024 creates a new Veterans Health Administration Policy Advisory Commission (VetPAC) to facilitate a transparent, expert-driven review process for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

“The men and women who served our great nation deserve the best we can offer,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Through regular reports, Congress can hold the VHA accountable to ensure our veterans receive health care that reflects their service.”

Modeled after the successful MACPAC and MedPAC, the independent commission will focus on improving health care delivery and addressing the challenges within the VHA. By conducting regular assessments and reporting to Congress, the legislation seeks to ensure critical areas such as technology, staffing, and patient care are continuously improved.
