Kennedy announces $5.6 million in Hurricanes Laura, Ida aid for Calcasieu Parish, New Orleans

“Hurricane Laura struck Sulphur High School in Calcasieu Parish, and Hurricane Ida damaged our airport in New Orleans. This $5.6 million will help Louisianians rebuild their communities.”

MADISONVILLE, La. – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $5,565,046 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants for Louisiana disaster aid. 

“Hurricane Laura struck Sulphur High School in Calcasieu Parish, and Hurricane Ida damaged our airport in New Orleans. This $5.6 million will help Louisianians rebuild their communities,” said Kennedy. 

The FEMA aid will fund the following:

  • $3,327,984 to the Calcasieu Parish School Board for permanent work to Sulphur High School as a result of Hurricane Laura.
  • $2,237,062 to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport for permanent work to the MSY Campus Facilities as a result of Hurricane Ida.
